This Feels Metal made it’s first appearance in December 2023 with no grand plan, no strategy, and no expectations. It began simply as a place to dump content; a creative outlet, a space to talk music, and a way to bring people in the heavy scene a little closer together. At the time, it was just one person trying to build the kind of community they wished already existed. A community built on passion, support, connection, and loud in all the best ways.
This Feels Metal is deeply shaped by lived experience, including the realities of being a disabled founder navigating a fast-moving, high-energy scene. Instead of letting that limit what TFM could be, it became part of the foundation, greatly influencing how TFM operates, how it stays accessible, how it builds community, and how it creates opportunities for people who may not always feel represented or included. This Feels Metal is built to be adaptive, welcoming, and rooted in the idea that everyone deserves a place in the heavy music world.
In 2024, This Feels Metal took its biggest leap; hosting its first official event, The Metal Solstice. Which sold out and marked a massive turning point for This Feels Metal. Not only was it an incredible night for the scene, but it also allowed TFM to give back – donating $1,000 to LIVIN, supporting mental health awareness and breaking the stigma around mental illness. That moment cemented what TFM truly stands for: community, impact, and the power of people coming together around music.
Since then, This Feels Metal has continued to grow with it’s community. Running events that highlight local talent, publishing a quarterly zine celebrating the depth and diversity of the scene, and NOW operating with a passionate team. An official photographer and a bookings manager to complete the This Feels Metal team. Every step forward reflects the same original energy; grassroots, authentic, and built with heart.
This Feels Metal exists to amplify the heavy music community, champion emerging artists, and create spaces that feel inclusive, exciting, and real. What began as a personal project has evolved into a growing movement. One that’s only getting louder.
This is This Feels Metal. We’re just getting started. you should come for the ride.
As always, I’ll see you in the pit.
